Emory Community Swimming Community Involvement
Since 2000, Emory Swimming and Diving has partnered with DeKalb County Special Olympics to sponsor a Special Olympic Swim Team on the Emory University Campus. The team is organized and coached on a volunteer basis by both current and former Emory swimmers and divers. The program runs on Tuesday nights during the academic year and concludes each season with the Special Olympics State Games in May.

Free Swim Lesson Program for Children in Need
Emory Community Swimming has partnered with Wilderness Works (http://www.wildernessworks.org/) to provide free swimming lessons for disadvantaged and at-risk children in the Atlanta community. Seventy percent of the children in the program are homeless and from either Dekalb or Fulton counties.
In the summer of 2009, Emory Community Swimming will provide lessons to over 25 Wilderness Works children during the months of June and July.
